First Aid Training in Pietermaritzburg

Every South African workplace with more than ten employees is legally required to have at least one trained first aider on duty. For construction sites, manufacturing facilities, and any workplace designated as hazardous, that requirement is more specific — and the consequences of non-compliance go beyond a fine.

Abethu Skills provides accredited first aid training in Pietermaritzburg at Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3, meeting the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.

What the First AID Course Covers

First Aid Level 1 (Basic)

Level 1 first aid is the starting point for most workplaces. The two-day course covers:

  • Scene safety and emergency response principles
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and choking
  • Bleeding control, wound management, and bandaging
  • Burns, shock, and fracture management
  • Seizure and diabetic emergency response
  • Documenting and reporting incidents

This course satisfies the minimum first aid requirement for most South African workplaces under the OHS Act.

First Aid Level 2 and Level 3

Advanced levels build on Level 1 competencies and are required for higher-risk environments, designated first aid responders, and workplaces with specific regulatory requirements. Contact us for course content and scheduling for Levels 2 and 3 in PMB.

Why Your PMB Business Needs First Aid Training

The first few minutes after an incident determine outcomes. A trained first aider who acts correctly can mean the difference between a colleague going home or not. Beyond the moral case, non-compliance with the OHS Act first aid requirements exposes employers to prosecution and civil liability.
